Papers to have ready before you apply
Pay stubs, bank statements, proof of address: gathering them first makes each form quicker to finish.
Lenders don't all ask for the same things, but a few come up often: recent pay stubs or another record of income, bank statements, a photo ID, and something showing your current address, like a utility bill or lease. If you work for yourself, tax returns or invoices often stand in for pay stubs.
Keeping them in one folder, on paper or on your phone, saves hunting for them halfway through a form. It also means the income figures you give match what a lender sees later. A lender may still ask for something that isn't here.
